Reservoir Specifications:
Our most popular tanks are the potable water tanks. These tanks come in 4 different diameters for increased versatility. To start; we pour a concrete base around service pipes already sticking up out of the ground. The walls are then poured in 5’ increments ranging from 10’ to 60’. We finish with a concrete roof. All concrete is rebar reinforced and poured in place. For a list of the tank sizes and the gallons each holds, please see Tank Sizes.
These tanks come standard with a manhole in the roof, a screened air vent, and a screened 4” overflow piped to ground level, galvanized ladders (inside and outside) and a water level indicator. All these accessories comply with the “Recommended Standards for Water Work, latest edition, by Great Lakes – Upper Mississippi River Board of State Sanitary Engineers”.
The tanks are structurally designed in accordance with the 2003 edition of the International Uniform Building Code, IBC. Each tank is designed as an essential facility for your specific site location to the earthquake requirements of the IBC (earthquake zones of the old UBC codes are out). The standard roof design is for a 45 P.S.F. live load, but heavier roof loading designs are available where heavier loads, such as snow, are a factor. Structural drawings and calculations will be supplied for each contract. The static soil bearing of each tank is shown on the drawings and it is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that the soil on the tank site is suitable for the loading.
